Black Magic

"Men are like mascara, they run at the slightest display of emotion" Kabir Bedi

People ask me all the time if my lashes are real, or what mascara I use. And if I could only wear one make up product for the rest of my life I would choose MASCARA! However, it's SOOO hard to find the perfect mascara. The one that gives us length, volume, and holds the perfect curl. Since I started wearing makeup, I have probably tried over 40 different mascaras!

*As a side note, I feel it's a waste of money to pay for high end mascara. Brands like Revlon, Covergirl, Maybelline, Loreal, and Rimmel, have some amazing products. Although, I just purchased a set of 12 sample high end mascaras for only 20$! Honestly, I haven't been impressed, but if I find a keeper I will surely let you know!

When looking for the perfect mascara you want to take into consideration what type of eyelashes you have. If you have really straight lashes, I would recommend using a waterproof mascara after curling your lashes, because it will hold the curl. For shorter, thinner lashes, fatter brushes seem to work best (covergirl lash blast). Personally I have long, moderately thick, naturally curled lashes. So keep that in mind when I share my favorite.

My Holy Grail Mascara!

Loreal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara

I can't say enough good things about this mascara, It last all day, gives amazing length, and is the perfect black. I have never had a problem with this mascara thickening, or clumping, and recommend this year round. The thin brush makes it easy to get every single lash, for the perfect eye. It also, is great for the bottom lashes. Bottom lashes can clump easier because they are so delicate, but the sharpness of this brush eliminates that problem.

This retails for around $10.99, depending on the drugstore.

My favorite mascara combination would be this mascara, with Maybelline Falsies on tops. The Falsies gives some extra volume, which can be great for a night out.

Let me know what your favorite mascara is!

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind- Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer

Dark under eye circle? Tired eyes? Well I have found the perfect drugstore under eye correcter! Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer!!!!! WOa that's a mouth full!

I have tried about 7 under eye concealers both high end and drugstore. However, I always seem to come back to this Maybelline dark circle corrector. I have been using this product for around 5 months and still have about 1/4 the product left. It can be found in most drugstores, Walmart, Target etc. Cost $8-10.

Product Details:
Below is a picture of the product. There is a round sponge tip, and the product comes up through it when twisting the bottom portion. This makes it quick and easy to apply. It comes in 4 shades, plus a neutralizer shade and brightener shade. (I use shade Light 120).

Why do I love it?!
    -Covers Dark pigmentation under eyes
-Doesn't build up in eye creases (smooths lines)
-Long Lasting (6hours)-easy to touch up
    -Brightens undereye
    -NON STICKY! smooth texture (serum)
    -No glitter/shimmer

Negatives:
I only have one complaint and that is when I apply this to any other area other than my eye I break out. However, I have extremely sensitive skin so it could just be me.

Application:
I usually apply this under my eyes in a triangle formation before foundation, but after moisturizer and primer.  I just let it sit while I apply my foundation and then blend it out with my finger to get rid of any excess. Don't use a wet sponge or beauty blender to blend it, because it will just smear.

Revlon 24 hour Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation

Purchasing:
I heard a lot of hype about this new whipped colorstay foundation by Revlon. Because I love the original colorstay line I naturally jumped on the Whipped Creme foundation bandwagon. I purchased mine from Walmart for 10.99, but the prices can range from anywhere between 10.99-13.99. Something I found challenging when purchasing this product was determining the color to buy. They come  in a thick glass container which made it difficult to even see the color. Lucky for me, I'm normally one of the lightest shades so I can usually pick the second or third shade in a line and be close enough! I ended up with 220 Nude.

First impressions:
After opening the jar, and revealing the product I was somewhat suprised at the texture. I had expected it to be like Maybelline's dream matte mousse foundation, if you know what I mean.

Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation

It has a very thick consistency, like between a creme foundation and a liquid foundation. I was then expecting it to feel heavy and be very full coverage. However, once applied it was very fresh feeling and was more of a medium coverage that was buildable to full coverage. I did still use a concealer over this because it didn't completely cover a few blemishes.

Applying:
One of the only down falls of this product is the packaging. First of it's in a heavy container which is not ideal for traveling. Second, it is a bit unsanitary to be dipping your fingers in the jar everyday, but what are you gonna do. I found the best way for applying this is by dabbing small amounts over my face and then blending it out with my beauty blender. However, I'm sure a foundation brush or fingers would work too.

Long Term Staying Power:
As a side note I have oily skin, so this may differ for people with dry skin. Though I have seen reviews that say it worked well for people with both types. After Wearing this foundation from 6am til 8pm, my face make up had not slide or moved AT ALL. And that is saying something because I have extremely oily skin! Normally After that amount of time I can run my finger down my cheek and completely remove the make up. Nope not with this foundation it was like it was part of my skin! I have been wearing this foundation for about a week and a half and I have not broken out, in fact my skin is looking clearer. Also, I found that it needs an hour or so to set because my skin look even smoother after having it on for a bit. Not that it looked bad at first, but the true finish really comes after it sets. Overall, I would  recommend this product to anyone who wears foundation!
3:30pm driving back from Chicago! still looks flawless

Story Time
I wore this foundation to my recent trip down in Chicago. Being the make up junky that I am...I had to stop at Sephora and pick up a few things. When I got the the counter to check out the cashier asked if I had my make up done in the store. When I replied no, she paused and looked puzzled, then continued to say, "wow, well your make up looks really good!" Coming from someone who is around make up all day, I took it as a huge compliment. It pretty much made my day. :)
